Population Services International (PSI) is expanding vaccine access through pharmacy-based immunization across Ethiopia, Kenya, and Nigeria. With Takeda’s support, PSI will demonstrate pharmacies' capability to safely deliver vaccines while serving as new access points within national health systems, reducing strain on public clinics. This approach aims to create a scalable blueprint for expanding immunization access across Africa, particularly valuable during health emergencies. The program targets nearly 1 million beneficiaries, primarily women and girls, focusing on region-specific health challenges: Typhoid and HPV vaccines in Nigeria and Kenya, and Tetanus-Diphtheria and HPV vaccines in Ethiopia. These selections address prevalent health issues in each country, including typhoid fever in Nigeria and Kenya, neonatal tetanus in Ethiopia, and cervical cancer risks across all three nations.
